Galileo G2: Europe Expands Its Next-Generation Satellite Fleet with Four New Satellites.

Thales Alenia Space and Airbus have secured new contracts to build four additional second-generation Galileo satellites, bringing the total number ordered to 16. The European Space Agency (ESA), acting on behalf of the EU Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA), has signed contract extensions with both companies. Each manufacturer will build two additional satellites on top of the six already under construction, further strengthening Europe’s satellite navigation system.
