On October 17–18, 2026, as part of the Beach-Cross de Berck-sur-Mer, the opening round of the French Motoblouz Sand Championship, Cyclevia, Yamaha and the Beach-Cross de Berck Organisation will launch a dedicated initiative to improve the collection and management of used engine oil and contaminated oil containers within the motorcycle racing community.

A dedicated collection point, consisting of three large containers, will be installed in the paddock throughout the two-day event. Riders and their teams will be able to dispose of used oil from on-site servicing operations in sealed, leak-proof containers. They will also be able to bring used oil containers stored in their workshops throughout the year.

Following the event, Cyclevia will arrange for the collection and appropriate treatment of the waste. Depending on its quality, used oil can be re-refined and used as a raw material for new lubricants. Contaminated plastic containers will be processed and recovered for energy. As of today, there is no dedicated recycling stream for this type of hazardous packaging in France. Cyclevia’s extended accreditation, effective from early 2027, will progressively help structure their collection and treatment within a circular economy approach.

This initiative represents Cyclevia’s first involvement in the motorcycle racing sector and aims to raise awareness among professional and amateur riders, technical teams and spectators about the environmental risks associated with used oil, as well as best practices for its handling, storage and collection.

The initiative also contributes to the broader environmental commitments of the Beach-Cross de Berck-sur-Mer. Held on a beach and therefore within a sensitive natural environment, the event is subject to annual impact assessments and mitigation measures implemented in cooperation with public authorities. The dedicated used-oil collection system is an additional step towards reducing the event’s environmental footprint.

For Yamaha, the initiative reflects a broader commitment to supporting more responsible maintenance practices among riders who service their motorcycles themselves. For the Beach-Cross organisers, it reinforces their objective of continuously measuring and reducing the environmental impact of an event that brings together approximately 1,000 participants and 50,000 spectators.

Through this partnership, Cyclevia, Yamaha and the Beach-Cross de Berck Organisation aim to turn environmental awareness into practical action, providing the motorcycle community with a simple, safe and responsible solution for managing used oil and its containers.
