Flash point

ASTM D8606 provides a standardized flash point determination method specifically suited for liquid waste with unknown composition and volatility. When implemented using eraflash analyzers, the method employs a continuously closed 7 mL test chamber, requires only 2 mL of sample, and uses a high-voltage electrical arc for ignition, eliminating the need for an open flame.

Flash point detection is based on the instantaneous pressure increase generated by vapor ignition within the test chamber. This approach enhances operational safety, minimizes the loss of volatile compounds, reduces sample disposal requirements, and enables precise and reproducible assessment of the flammability hazards associated with liquid waste.
